Airbus Helicopters delivered the 1000th H225, this time to the Feds the other day .

https://www.airbus.com/newsroom/press-releases/en/2019/09/airbus-delivers-1000th-super-puma-helicopter.html

and they also want to modernise their fleet according to the article below, thus probably starting off with replacing the Airbus Helicopters H155.

Options include:

Leonardo AW189

Bell 525

or just plain H215 and H225.

Yeah right. The H155 really is an ageing helicopter compared to those MK41 Sea King and MK88 Sea Lynx the German Navy has to deal with.

H160 more likely as just a guess. The cab at least is made in guess where!

Noise levels will be an issue in the future if not already.

I would think the H160 would be a natural evolution to the EC155 platform.

They’re not after that weight category of aircraft. They are looking to consolidate to 2 weight categories, 3-4T and 8-9T.

1000 Super Pumas, not 1000 225s!

1000 225s would be an awesome achievement!

Perhaps even more accurate 1,000 Puma derivatives so including the 330.

I'm pretty sure it does not. They are specifically talking about the Super Puma family, so AS332L/L1/L2 plus H215 and EC/H225

Now, the original post is not correct stating that the Bundespolizei took delivery of a H225. It is a H215 formerly known as the AS332L1 which is quite different, but looks alike for the non-geeks ;-)

They lost one a few years ago in a landing accident during training, maybe this is to replace that one?!

The H215 is an AS332L with the glass cockpit & 4-axis dual duplex digital autopilot of the H225.

For what it is worth, the 1,000th airframe served as a backdrop to a commanding officer's handover ceremony held at the Bundespolizei-Fliegergruppe facility at Sankt Augustin [Bonn] yesterday Monday afternoon. Thomas Helbig officially handed over the reins to his deputy Torsten Hallmann (although the latter has actually been in charge for some months as Helbig moved to Berlin on a project). As this is ostensibly said to be a marine airframe I guess it will be moving north in the near future.

The H215 is available in two different airframe versions, the same as the AS332 L or C model. Any other answers to this technically challenging question?

On Bell FBpage, they are sharing a post from a German politician Burkard Dreher seeing the 525 mock up in Berlin. I think if European Rotors went ahead last month, Bell was bringing the Relentless mock up to the show.

Anyhow in his statement he says “That would be something for our Berlin police, who currently have to share a small reconnaissance helicopter with the federal police, but can neither fly special forces in terrorist situations nor provide support from the air in fighting fires.”

Thing is though Bell is or will be demoing a Bell 429 in law enforcement config around Germany as they are teaming up with ESG

Don´t belive a Berlin politician.
Why do they share half a helicopter with the federal police?
Cause they aren't willing to pay for one (or two) themselves.

Even the town of Hamburg has two helicopters (ok, working together with the squadron of lower saxony for maintenance)...

They had inherited a fleet of East German "people's police" and "border guards" Mil Mi-2 some time ago. Those were too expensive and got retired for a reason. Today they mainly need helicopters for observation. SWAT ships can be called in from the federal police anytime. Based at Berlin Blumberg federal police heliport.

Bell429 vs H135... too expensive for the same or even less useful load,
Bell429 vs H145... price wise there-there, but 500 kg less useful load.

What exactly is the point of the 429? The current TCDS still states 3175 kg internal load.

Have often thought the same thing - unless you have the IGW kit it is pointless. IGW kit not happening in EASA land. Look up what is in the IGW kit and ask yourself just how exactly it makes any difference.

I guess people get suckered by the large cabin or something. Granted the 135 cabin is smaller but we had a 135 P2+ with WSPS, DP/SP IFR, A/C and floats - useful was about 1080 kg. Good truthful little helicopter.

Have now moved on to H145 which is a rocket. We keep the empty weight to essentials.

The 429 was going to "wag the dog" and they expected the authorities to bend over under Part 27. It is that heavy it should be a Part 29 aircraft.

And the dumb thing is it could be a Part 29 aircraft except it only has only one cooler blower!

That was it?! Concincing the FAA, forcing it’s sh*t all over the place because of one blower? That really sucks 😂 It could have been a great helicopter... like the 412, with a single drive shaft.
Bell always seems to leave a flaw so they can argue about later instead of doing it right the first time.

Both Bell and MD fell into the trap of not fully reading the spec. MD faced the problem with the 900 but got around it by creating the 902 and Bell created the 427 which was an abortion that placed the fuel in the cabin. The only answer to that was the 429 which again ended up with the engineers not reading the full script.

Berlin (Brandenburg) are colocated with the Bundespolizei so there is an operational connect.
