Jobsituation in Asia

Hi,
I will finish my training in the next few weeks and as the European market starts to stop again (Tuifly Deutschland, Eurowings, DHL, Ryanair etc. are stopped the Recruitment ) I will also consider Asia, but I found nothing, e.g. for AirAsia you have to be a Malaysian citizen. But I thought in Asia you have more possibilities to get a job? Where do I have to search for jobs in Asia ? Are there external websites or companies ?

Susi Air. You need 250 hours to start flying with them but you can apply with less than 250 hours.

Good luck trying to get in without a type and hours. Even if you manage to get a slot, dont hold out for a captain upgrade slot, it is not a given right but a privilige . Locals will be given priority,

Your best bet would probably be Cambodia with there P2F schemes, last time I heard 6 months ago these schemes were in the region of 70,000 USD. Even with that kind of price tag there is a long queue to go on the scheme.

Theres not not many chances in Thailand with the demise of a few independent carriers, China is definitely out of the question as they only hire captains as regulated by the CAAC (they only issue ATP’s to expats). So basically nothing much here unless you want to P2F.

You make it sound as though you can get into Asia easier than in Europe. You have no qualifications yet let alone any jet experience or hours. The Asian market is saturated with qualified locals who are first pick. They have plenty of talented graduates who will get placed. To fly in Asia you would need airline experience with at least 500 hours on type in most countries. They don’t take young European freshies who feel they are entitled to a jet job just like that. But you will “consider” Asia as Europe won’t hire you.

Totally agree with the above. Not everyone’s first job out of pilot school was being an airline pilot, well mine wasn’t I had to work in an airline office to get my foot through the door first, i’ve even known people who washed aircrafts for a year before there first gig as an SEP instructor.

I can’t opinionize on the situation in the whole of Asia. But in China with fears of recession and the introduction of the bullet train, some are altering onto ground transportation as there’s no delays and no check in e.t.c. (Shenzhen to Hong Kong was only 15 minutes by bullet train). Therefore the market is saturating, plus in addition there are approximately 3000 pilot graduates from CAFUC and other Chinese colleges worldwide annually to fill out the 800 annual retirements, therefore there are more than enough FO’s,
although they may need captains and instructors for the next few years but after that I doubt they will be requiring as many expats as they currently have.

Life is a journey, try to get your foot through the door first by all means...
