Errrr ummm, since the Crimes Act was invented !

Certainly in Victoria they can do what ever they want, especially if there is a threat to life and property.

Going by the royal commission currently looking at Victorian police behaviour, they certainly do whatever they want, legal or not.

There was a good article about that topic today. There were 3 guys that allegedly shot at Police a couple of days ago, causing the Police to have to run into McDonald's to hide. Not long after they went to some houses and arrested the alleged perps.

When it came time to present in front of the magistrate, the magi raised concerns about the state of the alleged offenders due to their terrible appearance and black eyes etc. One of them allegedly didn't want to come out to the docks as he said everyone in there wanted to harm him ! The reader of the article was then left to draw their own conclusions as to what happened to the alleged perps.

How long have they had such jurisdiction?Isn’t the Bendigo airport land owned by a Victorian?

Even if it isn’t, there’s the Commonwealth Commonwealth Places (Application of Laws) Act 1970. Try speeding or drink driving on a State road then driving on to an Australian Defence Force Base within that State to ‘escape’ the State Police...

Or... try being a CASA employee at a Defence Force Base during an Airshow and try to get access airside to ramp check a GA aircraft !

A media report said one of the alleged (don't you just love that word nowadays) had a altercation with the police dog who took a dislike to him. Seems the dog won.

The late Commissioner Mick Miller is alleged to have said, send in the dogs. Urban myth being what it is no one is quite sure whether he meant the dog squad or SOG, which he formed.

No doubt they fell over going up the stairs, probably with a phone book in their hand!

Christ! It is an ultralight with a broken wheel! Pick it up and carry it back to the hangar. This is certainly not worthy of the resources involved!

The visceral fetishism that the public has over any and all aircraft incidents doesn't help
