A mix up between speed brake lever and park brake lever resulting in wrecked tyres.

Very interesting read, am surprised it happened though. They had several 'clues' that the park brake was selected on, ineffective 'speed brake' as in couldn't get down with the original Trk miles....the comment "who closed that"......check list foul up. All kinda shows despite all the hairy fairy stuff we pilots have to put up with year after year such stuff ups can still happen!

I remember a Metro doing it in Adelaide, I think!

Its not an uncommon occurrence in A320's either even though there is a memo to tell you that the park brake is selected on. In one report that I read the PM had mistaken the park brake handle for the flap lever when the PF called for F3. When the PF called for F3 a second time there was no questioning of what the PM had done the first time F3 was requested.
