This needs to really be analyzed as an exercise in accurate communication. For example “plain english” isn’t plain. There need to be standard forms.

Understanding the NOTAM lingo in your home turf is not always a problem, but the number of NOTAMs and how they are made available is the problem.

RAPACs have made repeated requests that NAIPS make available NOTAMs according to the airspace you are going to use (eg: G D Below A100 ) so you are drowned in the NOTAMS captial city airports etc. The response is that Airservices IT system/s cannot cope with such a change...... ! I don't think they want to do it, having put so many staff off to save money..... what about safety??

Concerns about legal liability rather than operational necessity, drive the current system to list every possible Notice to Airmen (Notam) that could, even under the most unlikely circumstance, affect a flight.

Funny that. It's almost word for word what I thought about NOTAMs about 20 years ago. Good to see things don't change...

It all makes sense though once the true meaning of Government Department is known. Breaking it down, Govern = Control, -ment = mind, as in mental, and Depart = Leave. There you go, hidden in plain sight. Mind Control designed to make us take leave of our senses. And people think they're smarter than Government.

You don't see TAFs in a NOTAM. TAFs are actually useful information. That article is probably referring to NOTAMS in the USA which are so ridiculously long that folks don't bother reading them. Never knew anyone who actually plots the lat/long position of cranes mentioned in NOTAMS.

In NAIPS, go to Location Briefing and enter the location name to obtain both TAF and NOTAMS. Alternatively, you can also go to Area Briefing and click on the area(s) of interest. You will also be shown TAFs and NOTAMs. You'll need to create an account if you don't have one yet though. PM if you need help buddy and fly safe :8.

The issue here is how useful NOTAMS are in their current presentation and as you have also pointed out, TAF and NOTAMs are not the same. Thanks for the offer to help anyway, but after 30 years in the industry, I think I've sorted it out.
