ME+IR, need a valid IR?

Hi everyone

hopefully someone can help me. i have an EASA license.

My SE(IR) has expired 1 year ago. and also my SE.

I want to take an ME+IR.
Do i really have to renew my SEP class rating and thereafter my SE/IR before i can start my training for ME class rating + ME IR?

If your planning on adding an ME class rating to the IR then Yes. Simply, you cant add a rating to a rating that is not valid anymore.
