I have a Tornado PSP which I would like to display, I am looking to collect up and fill with all the relevant Survival Kit, Rations etc...

I have found a SS 15 Dinghy and associated parts, now looking for the other items!

Would anybody happen to know what the content of a Tornado PSP from a MK10a Seat would have been over the years please?

Also I am struggling to find any information regarding the PSP Liner Bags for the Dinghy and Survival kit, would anyone know how they were fitted and which type/mark they would be?

Many thanks in advance....

The liner bags just fitted in loosely. Iirc they could be removed and used as rudimentary backpacks.
as for contents it's been a while but from memory these would include (for temperate climate);
Day/ night flare.
Sweet tin
Water pouches
Headover
Reverse osmosis pump
Matches
Survival tin containing firelighters, saw, condoms, citton wool.
Penknife.

That pretty much exhausts my memory. More of a 'chute bay wallah.

Many thanks Tashengurt,

That is very useful information! I will start to look for those items to make up the set...

I have found a picture of the PSP Liner and the Martin Baker part number so that should help in my search!

Does anyone know where I could find a Tornado Mk 12 PEC please?

It also depends on where you were planning to fly. We ended up taking out the dinghies when flying over the desert and taking more water with some other more useful stuff. I also seem to remember having an axe in the Tornado PSP?

I recal there were 4 basic scales of equipment at the start of the RAF jets operational life: ARCTIC, MARITIME, TEMPERATE, and DESERT. These basics were modified during its life in GW1, GW2, Kosovo etc etc. I recall authorising many changes whilst I was Engineering Authority. It was a moving feast.

You may wish to try contacting these guys and gals for specifics.

Many thanks to you both, that’s great info...

I would be interested to know more about an axe being carried on occasions in the Tornado PSP, I imagine it must be a small size, if anyone knows any more?

Thanks for the links, they sound very useful, I will get into that!

Cheers,

Mick

I think one even went into Tucano at the request of the Combat Survival School. All seemed a bit OTT when all you would likely need to survive around Church Fenton/Linton/topcliffe back in the day was a mobile phone and some vouchers for McDonalds on the A1
😉😂

oldmansquipper - thanks, yes, that is the bad boy I remember. One of the most useful things in the PSP along with the reverse osmosis pump. :ok:
