Request for assistance - USA based CASA Flight Examiner/English Language assessor

A friend and colleague in the USA needs to transfer an FAA pilots license to a CASA license in order to operate an Australia registered aircraft overseas. The licence transfer is relatively simple - however the sticking point is CASA won't accept the FAA English Language proficiency certification. My friend is a native English speaker so should not have any difficulty with the tests, however is having difficulty finding a CASA approved Flight Examiner or Language Proficiency assessor based in the USA. CASA don't seem to publish a list of all the assessors any more. If anyone is able to assist with the details of anyone USA based with the relevant approvals, or even an assessor travelling to the USA in the near future who might be willing to assist, could you please PM or respond to this thread?

Ridiculous not to accept the FAA certification. Perhaps your friend could call Joe Hockey in Washington and convince him his English is ok. I believe Joe was one of the politicians who wanted to cut the amount of red tape in Australia.

Ps. Another option is to bring the problem to the attention of Trump.

Another rubbish 'tick the box' requirement. I recall at an Asian airline some years ago, a native Canadian pilot failed the language proficiency test given by a non-native English examiner. The reason being, the Canadian couldn't understand the examiner's strong local accent and his use of incorrect grammar in phrasing the questions.

Maybe a difference that I already had the Oz licence, couple of years ago needed to put ELP on my Oz licence after leaving Japan, question asked to CASA and they accepted my Japanese ELP Level 6 Certificate, some of their own paperwork and a licence reprint fee.

May seem silly but is the FAA ELP quoted as Level 6?

The FAA licenses (or certificates as they call them) only say that you're 'English Proficient'. It doesn't give you a level. That's probably what's confused the CASA pen pushers.

Firstly - a big thank you to everyone who responded via PM or on the thread with offers of assistance. The broader aviation community really are a helpful bunch, thank you!

The issue is indeed that CASA will only consider an ICAO compliant Level 6 certification for conversion, and the FAA license is different.

As a result of the assistance we received, we have managed to find a solution for my friend to sit the test in the USA.
