POTUS is after new colour scheme for new AF1...which will be 747-8i

if and if his wishes are met, wonder if rest of DV fleet across the board from 89th AW C-32, C-40A and C-37 could follow suit?? Maybe even the 1st HS new MH-139 could go red white and blue?? Or likewise the 86th AW C-37, C-40 could.

Any thoughts ?

cheers

I like the new scheme. More business like and easier to maintain...

Looks naff to me. The current scheme looks good.

Not for me Clive. Looks just like a bog standard airline livery.

Looks a bit old fashioned, like a 1970s livery.

Will it be just a comb-over?

Interestingly everyone states the current design of AF1 was by Raymond Loewy. Actually, if you look at his proposal, it more closely resembles the Trump proposal. It was Kennedy who had the red changed to blue, because it was his favourite colour - and that of the Democrats.

Seconded ... even though it isn't, it says "American Airlines" at first glance. But then I guess that's half-appropriate!

Looks like an aeronautical shell suit to me.

reminds me of Northwest for some reason................. the current scheme is very distinctive - the new one... not so much

I much prefer the current design....which is the very well known symbol of the American Presidency.

My vote would be to leave it as it is. Actually, as they are (plural).

Does the new paint scheme seem familiar some how....same designer of Trump's Personal Jet maybe?

SASless,

Me too, though I have to confess that I hadn't really considered what it must feel like to be flying around in a huge Democrat schemed aircraft either! Had no idea that JFK's decision was partly down to his party colour.

The old design was iconic and easily recognisable.
The new design is far too corporate and unremarkable.

Looks like a paint job for easily conversion into the "Trump Force One" design when the time comes..... red band already in place.

It looks to me like they used of couple of the later US Air liveries as a starting point, and then didn't go much further. I agree with the other members who feel that the current livery works just fine. It is distinctive, there is no other like it, and it is instantly recognizable....which is everything you want in branding. Don't mess with success.

Look on the bright side - it goes better with Melania's cabin crew outfit:

Wow, what do you know that we don't know?
If she is finally "Lock her up" we should not forget to leave room for all the others "Lock them up"!

To me the new scheme looks like any other airliner. Nothing special about it.
Something special were the older Court Line colors?

Personally I don't give a monkey's whatnot about the paint scheme of the US President's aircraft. I'm not paying for it and I will probably never see it except for the odd bit on the TV news. However how many are going "Pfffft - it's crap" purely because it is Donald Trump's design and they don't like anything to do with him?

SASless,

Me too, though I have to confess that I hadn't really considered what it must feel like to be flying around in a huge Democrat schemed aircraft either! Had no idea that JFK's decision was partly down to his party colour.

It wasn't painted in JFK's party colors. That tradition of red for Republicans and blue for Democrats is more recent, started somewhere after the late 70's or early 80's after color TV came in, and TV news needed a way to paint electoral maps. The colors were random, sometimes blue for Republicans until it became standardized. At least according to Wiki:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_states#Origins_of_the_color_scheme

Trump may hate the color now that the red vs. blue party ID has been formalized, but it's not actually the shade of primary blue you see in most Democratic party imaging anyway. I like the original paint scheme. It's iconic, no mistaking what it is. The new one is very airliner-generic, even ignoring the homage to Trump's personal plane livery.

The new one looks like some dodgy freight outfit that goes bust as soon as they need to change an engine.
