I have heard that a new 737 operator is to start flying CHEAP in Norway ..... News anybody ??
Hope it will last a bit longer than the other colorful company some time ago - Color Air ......
Scandinavian Airlines sure need some competition ......

I heard an interesting rumour that it might be flown via a wet leased UK 737 initially!

It's the new low-fare business of Norwegian Air Shuttle and it's supposed to launch its new livery tomorrow.
OSL to Trondheim, Tromso, Stavanger, Bergen using 6 x 737s. First ops 1/9/02.

It isn`t really a "new" airline as much as being an expansion of already existing NAS (Norwegian Air Shuttle) which up until now has operated Fokker 50s as a feeder for Braathens.Since SAS bough Braathens, the deal between NAS and Braathens more or less came apart.
NAS seized the moment as SAS gained monopoly of domestic travel in Norway - with the exception of Arctic Air and other minor operators.There has been some turmoil domestically to whether SAS (government supported/subsidized) should be allowed to directly control the aviation market, and the new startup from NAS - to be called "Norwegian" - is greatly welcomed by the Norwegians.
Norwegian will not be a so-called "low cost" operator in the same way that Ryanair and Easyjet are.The term "low cost" is compared to SAS` extremely high airfares on the country`s domestic routes.Norwegian will be operating at more normal, sensible prices.
Pilots have been recruited to fly the 6 leased B737s, most of which are senior NAS pilots and former Braathens pilots.Good for the Braathens guys who really got the bad end of the stick with their SAS "merger", but there is still very little circulation with regards to all the other pilots (newly educated) to get on the inside.

The 3 governments are holding 50% of the SAS stocks, but if you call that subsidizing......?
And exactly what bad end of a stick did BU pilots get in "the SAS merger". As far as I know, no "merger" has been done, and no bad sticks handed out to anybody. Actually, BU pilots have more work today than they would have had, if you catch my drift.
I think the airline you are looking for is GOODJet. I believe they are Swedish but operating from across Scandinavia to European destinations.
In April they were supposed to start A320 operations from Gothenburg to Paris (Beauvais) and to Nice.
In June they were supposed to start:-
Malmo to Paris and Nice
Stockholm (Skavsta) to Paris
Oslo (Torp) to Paris
I don't know if any or all these services started.:) :)
