This proposal invoked the ire of Liptrot in, I think, 1942, but inadvertently led to Miles designing the M.52.
I would be interested if anyone has information about a recent Boeing project for a blended wing passenger aircraft, where the difficulties of pressurising any fuselage cross-section other than circular have caused them to shelve it.
My father-in-law George Miles piloted this on its maiden flight, and he told me the story about the singular parachute to be shared between himself and Don Brown. He had a singularly cavalier attitude to safety when testing his M.39b Libellula : tied to the side of the aircraft just below the window was a broom handle which he would release and thrust into the prop to shatter it t avoid being processed if they had to bale out .
