Hi all

I'm flying business class with Emirates via Dubai later on in the year.

I see that you're given a complementary bag of toiletries on the flight.

How is this handled by security when transitting Dubai? Do I have to hand all the liquids over? Will they make a big deal out of it?

Sorry if this sounds stupid but I've never flown business so I've never had this problem before.

Have flown business via the gulf stopovers quite a few times & haven't had any issues yet. It comes in a pouch marked with the airline logo and it's not as if you are getting gallons of liquid soap or toothpaste.
Haven't been through your route recently, so can't be 100% sure that arrangements haven't changed substantially, but having said that..... Worst case, you'll have to dump the stuff into the buckshee clear plastic bag at security for scanning then decant them back into the airline's pouch once you clear security.

No Worries. No Drama, it's all been thought through beforehand.

Any liquids are almost certainly going to be below 100ml and only two or three in number, probably aftershave, mouthwash and lotion so it won’t be a problem.

With the compliments of the entire crew complement, presumably? :O

Presumably, they will do it discretely ;)

If you're flying business class on the second leg you'll be getting another set of complimentary goodies anyway so you could leave the first lot when you get off that flight.

Are you getting the complimentary pick up and drop off as well?

I regularly travel through Doha on Qatar Airways business. I keep both sets and give them to people in Philippines. Never had a problem. Just go with the flow.

I am a regular EK flyer in Business and as a result pick up multiple overnight bags a year and have never had a an issue either with liquids. In fact we have a cabinet at home stuffed full of post shave balm / moisture rises etc from Bulgari all picked up from EK. Usually ex the razor and toothbrush comb etc as you can get those in the toilets in DXB when changing planes or in the shower either on board or at DXB. Like Cymmon says I also give stuff away down route as well, but with Mrs Mac also using them a reasonable amount it still builds up, however it does save on having to buy the stuff if you like the brand / fragrance they use. Mrs Mac liked the Bulgari Red but this has now changed which she is not happy about ! As Yellowtrumph says the pick up / drop off is a great selling point for me personally as having flown half way around the world with a body clock all over the place the drive home is probably one of the most dangerous bits of the journey for SLF and crew. I lost a good friend who was a LH pilot with Lufthansa that way some years ago.
Have a good trip
Regards
Mr Mac

You could have a gallon of battery acid in your carry on and you wouldn't be stopped in DXB transit security. I don't bother taking out my laptop etc, or my bottled water - never stopped.

Maybe worth doing a thread on how to manage safely the last leg - for instance a strong espresso just before leaving the airport?
