Can anyone provide a definitive source of information on the effect of transferring to FTRS on PA salary. My understanding has been that PA is not available to FTRS however an FTRS desk officer has recently said that a number of FTRS offers have been made to PA who have transferred to FTRS and are still on the PA spine. Unfortunately he was not able to point me to any pay regulations or pay policy staff.

Thank you.

When you transfer to FTRS from PAS you effectively re join the career stream. Your time on PAS will put you at level 7( assuming you are Flt Lt), the top level for FTRS.

Take the level 7 salary, at the moment about £45,000 and deduct it from your present PAS salary; if the remainder is bigger than your predicted pension, you get to keep your full pension. Then the icing on the cake is you get paid flying pay on top of that figure. RRP as flying pay is now called is a 2 tier system with multiple levels and where you join depends on your previous service. JSP 754 and DIN 2017DIN01-050 should steer you in the right direction but beware they are not as transparent as they should be.

I have been told there is no such thing as FTRS PAS but if you find out otherwise please share.

Yup, I am 100% sure that there is no FTRS PAS. PAS is a retention measure and not a recruiting measure - so there is no way that MOD Pay Policy would ever allow it.

Myra Leese, thanks for the info. I was confused having spoken to an FTRS desk officer, but I'll search the DiN. I couldn't get enough out of JSP 754 but will have another go.

srb.
