Hi guys,

I am looking for somewhere to get a cheap 737 NG Type Rating. I have an EASA ATPL licence so I presume it must be done within the EU. Anyone know of somewhere cheap.

Many thanks.

airBaltic. You do it on the Classic and then go to Copenhagen or Stockholm for the NG sim session.

Avoid BAA.

is the 737 rating giving you a job ? If not, I would rather spend my money on an Airbus 320 rating and still if no job in the pipeline, a massive gamble. Good luck

Yeah I seen Air Baltic alright and they look very good thanks. They do about 3 courses every month.
Why do you say stay away from BAA because that is somewhere I was looking at?

No it's not for a job I have 3000 hours TT and 1500 on ATR I'm just doing this to speed up the process of moving onto a jet. I'm on a very good salary and so the money is not a problem.

Forget about BAA... I spoke with a HR from a French company and he told me that they will not hire anymore guys that trained at BAA because "they" aren't not up to standard.

I read some post and I will stay away from BAA. At the moment I am thinking more towards Air Baltic. Do you know any other places thanks?

Cockpit4U have a good reputation but I'm not sure they fall in the "cheap" category.

Don't focus on the 737. A320 is more widely used in Europe.

Based on this, I highly suggest you just apply. Many NTR DEFO opportunities out there:
-Ryanair
-Eurowings
-easyJet Switzerland
-Wizz Air
-Emirates

And many more. The fact you can pay is good if you don't want to be bonded but try to get a job first.

FSC in Amsterdam has my vote too although I went for the Embraer but they have 5 NGs. Value for money, easy to get to and they put me up in a nice airport hotel.

actually only 4 NG’s, and 1 NG FTD. In the middle of the NG row is a 747-400 sim.

I received an email today from BAA, with a promotion for the 737 CL + conversion to NG for 9000€.
It is almost cheaper than a good MCC APS

Do not forget the Base Training. That must be added, will be around 4000-6000 Euro added to that price.

Their quality of instruction is utter crap and their Classic sim is even worse. You'd waste €9k and not be a competent 737 pilot.

Why buy a type rating, most airlines will require some time on type if you join type rated which you won’t have.

best bet is to get a job that gives you the type rating, whether that the requires a bond or for you to contribute towards, don’t just buy a type rating to try to jump a recruitment queue, it rarely works.

Nowadays almost every airline tries to cut costs. If you don't do an upfront payment they'll deduct the costs from your salary

I would like to revive this thread for 2022. Could those with knowledge please make a list of current facilities where one can purchase a 737 type rating and the cost? I have looked at the websites of various providers but none disclose the cost.

That's because you have call or email them. An FAA type rating will be a different price from an EASA approved type rating. As someone stating in a reply to you on the flydubai thread, if you can't figure this out then maybe Dubai isn't for you.
