They sure are!

But only if you meet the requirements as seen on:

http://www.lft-online.de/englisch/in_lcag.htm

If you meet those requirements, though, you´d also be a possible candidate for LH-pax - with a slightly better contract.
Absolutely, positively no DE CPs in all of DLH, BTW.
Time to command currently ca. 8-12 yrs...

Call Ms. Mosandl in the "human resources" dpt at +49 69 696 55706, should you want to contact LH-Cargo directly.

Also use the search function to find out more about the terms etc., which I´ve posted before.

Any more ??? - post them here or send me a message.

DE Pilot meaning as a FO - YES.

DE Pilot meaning as a CP - NO.

They are definitely employing - it certainly is a current requirement.

Did I get the question right??

Yes, I meant direct entry cdr. I heard a rumour that they were looking for MD-11 CDR's?

To close the subject:

DLH has not employed DE CP/Cdrs since ca. 1991 for German Cargo Services - now Lufthansa Cargo (and Suedflug - now Condor - soon Thomas Cook).

Commanders at Lufthansa Cargo will be folks trained from Effo´s from the Lufthansa seniority list from the companies Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, Condor or CondorBerlin.

They´ve just sold their stake in DHL (to Deutsche Post) to get cash and avoid cartell-problems, but are planning on using them for much short/medium haul work - LCAG (as a part of "WOW") will do long haul work, with their aircraft.

The rumours is nothing more than... a rumour - trust me.

Basically - yes.

Sometimes they open up certain extra switching possibilties, due to over/understaffing on certain fleets etc. for a defined timeframe, though.

If you make it, they´ll offer you a contract with LH-pax most likely (99,9%) - which is the best way to start out, anyway.

Viel Glück - Wir kochen auch nur mir Wasser...

Hey Studi
Best of luck to you. Keep on going, despite the rumbles; is't still the best job around.

What does "an ATPL license recognized by the German authority" mean? Is that a European license or any ICAO license?

Die Lebenskosten in Deutschland sind viel zu teuer mit einem kleinen F/O Gehalt.

Definitely just a rumour! Nrs 7+8 have to get going first, anyway.

Talks about aquiring some KLM MD11s - which would have to be converted - are going on. But if the market keeps up its current pace, who knows....

All of Lufthansa is hiring AND will be hiring in the midterm, too.
Applications to the same address I´ve stated many times before - no special person to talk to to get in easier.

Some other possibilities of employment are being contemplated, though by VC and management.
If/as soon as anything is put in writing I´ll let everyone know. (And I´ll be one of the first to know.)

It seems strange that most German airlines require you to do the DLR aptitude tests to even get considered for employment with them. The Lufthansa Group (Main- and CityLine, Cargo) is no exception, at least I get that impression looking at their websites.
Also, the Long Range Rating - again, a typical German thing nobody else even heard of. It all looks like a quite involved process (mainly doing groundschool coures), and I somehow can't imagine that experienced UK pilots even consider going through the whole shebang.

High cost of living in Germany?? You haven't lived in the UK yet!

DLR is not much different from other aptitude tests or other assessment b.s.. (Though the high fail-rate at DLR of recent EX-SR candidates, has made MANY "important" people think about the overall validity!!)

DLH, LCAG,CFG,CiB and CLH (all Lufthansa "members") require the same test, because the first four are all on one seniority list, being able to switch companies/positions during their career.
To make it easier for younger CLH-FOs to possibly get into one of the four, they have to pass the DLR test, too, albeit with different age etc. requirements.

The Long-range stuff is a load of cr@ck from the dark ages, the LBA understaffed and under-funded...

Why would someone go through it?? - Maybe because they need/want a relatively "safe" pilots´ job.
It all depends on what you expect, and for how long.
The "security" of the contract, as well as the "safety" of german labor laws, do have a price (pay itself ain´t that wild), though.

But nobody´s been furloughed here for quite a while either.
