Can anyone point me out where to start reading about the subject? I I don't mean operation or pilot training regulations but the machine itself type certification and - if any - other possible ways to make it legal airworthy - in Europe and America (yes, I realize there should be different rules).

Thanks in advance,

Alexander

I don't believe there are any regulations yet, but Europe is "working on it" http://ec.europa.eu/transparency/regcomitology/index.cfm?do=search.documentdetail&Dos_ID=17242&DS_ID=58829&Version=4 (http://ec.europa.eu/transparency/regcomitology/index.cfm?do=search.documentdetail&Dos_ID=17242&DS_ID=58829&Version=4)

Look under EASA Annex 1 under any EASA land national rules.... (ex Annex 2)
In UK for example here ->

Perhaps your Interstate Comm have issued something too.

My understanding was that he was asking about the design and certification specifications, so a UAV equivalent to CS27 & CS29.

Yes, my question was about any regulation(s) like CS27 or CS-VLR.

I saw this prospective paperwork of EASA for future UAV regulations. Just curious how UAVs get their AW certificates right now.

Look up JARUS and CS-LURS.. still lots of gaps but a start.

I don’t think there are any UAS that have actually been issued with a proper Type Certificate so far... lots of experimental and Military special approvals however ...
