Very sad. The pilot died in the crash and the aircraft was totally destroyed. It had been the sole remaining example of Northrop's WW2 flying wing concept.

The pilot who sadly lost his life has now been confirmed as David Vopat; he had a wealth of experience flying vintage aircraft for Planes of Fame and various other collections in the USA. RIP.

There is an example of the earlier N-1M on display at the National Air and Space Museum, Washington.
