This is possibly already discussed, haven't searched.
On my daily visits I click on the 'fist new post' icon against threads. But often this takes me to a point much later than the time I last visited. eg I visited yesterday at 0833, but the first unread post I get to is several hours after then with several intermediate posts shown as read. There seems to be some issue with the read post markers.

Secondly, on some threads I find there is an extra page shown at the bottom, eg it goes up to page 23. But when I click on that I am taken to page 22 with page 23 still shown as available. This tends to happen on busy threads. Is this related to posts that have not yet passed moderation?

Hope this is clear.

On your first 'feature' - I've had my first unread post setting at about 24 hours before current login for a few years now, and can't seem to get IB staff to recognise/ advise on the problem. See: https://www.pprune.org/pprune-problems-queries/584899-new-posts-since-last-visit-problem.html

Dave,

Your second observation about non-existent last pages is a well-know PPRune bug that has been present for many years. It has nothing to do with moderation of posts.

Have a look at this thread for an extreme example:

I remember reading an explanation of the issue once, but I can’t remember the details.

It's related to deleted posts throwing off the post counter. There are no posts on the phantom page -- it's just a count error.

As to the "24 hour" issue, possibly you have a bad cookie? Might want to clear them and try again. This is not a widespread issue, so it seems likely it's local to you.

Thanks, at least it is not just me. I see the logic in the deleted post explanation but surely the forum should be able to cope. I never see this on any of the other forums I visit.
