Hi, my son has been through a long process of trying to get a Class 1 - this was declined in January (he's 17, was about to start to apply to Flight Schools). The news was devastating, but he moved on and applied to Uni. In the meantime, his file was reassessed and we received an initial Class 1 with OML through the post yesterday. So, it appears that the Flight Schools will take potential candidates with a limitation however where will this leave my son when he comes to get a job? At a massive disadvantage? Do airlines point blank refuse to take Class 1 OML? Are there areas of the world where it is less of a problem? Any advice, anecdotes, guidance gratefully received please. Thanks!

There is a similar post that was written back in Sept 2018 by someone with lots of good info (link below)

For what's it's worth I couldn't get a medical for over 2 yrs due to Heart problems. And although I evetually got an unrestricted class 1, it wasn't an easy road on deciding whether to carry on.
As I understand it (I'm happy to be corrected) an OML on a medical simply restricts the individual from single pilot commercial operations, and from flying with another pilot who also has an OML. I know a few people who have them, I wouldn't worry. The CAA would not issue the Class 1 if he isn't fit to fly.
