Yes indeed you have a long way to go. Big difference. And getting extra hours bush flying is not going to get you the requirements for an ATPL. No long sectors. no night, no IMC. Wrong way forward.

There are plenty of places you could get your first job at. Look at bush flying companies, they take fresh Cpl holders. Before committing at least 8 years of your life to Cathay, please get into contact with current and ex Cathay pilots, they will give you insight on life as a Cathay pilot. Also read threads on pprune about them.

With more 100 hours you can apply to F/O at EEA on 767 and 777...they do it frequently and need pilots anytime :)

Any pointers? They're so hard to get.

First and foremost what is your nationality? If you're not African. I advise you take your thread to the sub forum which your country of origin lies in. Otherwise if you're a local you shouldn't have an issue landing a job in the bush although it's really about who you know.

Back in the day, Bots was the place to go. Now those doors have shut, you need 500 TT minimum. Where do freshly minted 200 hr South Africans go to find work now a days?
