I posted very carefully and checked the embedded link. It worked.

Subsequently the link was reported as broken by another user. That's odd, I think.

Turns out that any subsequent edit to the post results in the link getting broken. Let's test it here.

Original link - I will subsequently edit the post and add something. It will be the line "Added." AND another copy of the link.

If I am right this should result in one broken link followed by a good link.

First link.

Added.

Yup.

Broken as advertised :)

Indeed.

The strange thing is if you right click and select 'Copy Link Location' on the top broken link and then paste into Notepad it comes up with https://pprune.org (https://pprune.org) in front of the flightradar address, though the pprune.org bit is weirdly invisible in your original post!!

Try it and see.

Also discovered if you highlight and 'Ctrl C' the broken link you should get the same result as above, (since highlighting and Ctrl C is the same as 'Copy Link Location' in this context) yet it produces a correct version of the link!!

I had developed the habit of checking any links in my posts after posting because of previous weirdness and failures.

At least there is now a reproducible issue and Ant seems to have found more.

I now recall resorting to the Forum Edit Box's "Source" button to fix something or other to do with a link in the past where a good link had magically turned bad. The displayed text had diverged from the action component - sorry I don't know the correct terms.

I think I have noticed (and reported here already? - hmm maybe not) that some posted youtube links that don't work auto-magically work when "Quoted" using the forums quote tool. Not sure.
