Yes, the disinformation campaign has started in relation to “Stop the lie, change the Act, let aviation thrive.”

An article was published in yesterday morning’s Sydney Morning Herald, headed “Pilots seek safety first regulations” (online as “Pilots, experts call out push to make CASA weigh costs of safety (https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/pilots-experts-call-out-push-to-make-casa-weigh-costs-of-safety-20190318-p5155l.html)”) which I would imagine was instigated by the “iron ring” at CASA to keep their unaccountability.

The article talks about the changes in the Act and says: “The changes have been designed to appease the general aviation industry – including charter, pilot training, recreational and agricultural operators – which says it is being strangled by over-regulation.” “Aviation expert Neil Hansford … says, "To commercialise the implementation of safety and operations regulations is not sound and could lean to the problem we have in the United States," he said."

I must admit I have to hand it to them. They have been able to keep the “lie” in the act – that is, the words “CASA must regard the safety of air navigation as the most important consideration”, for over 20 years now, and the latest changes to the Act that are sitting in Parliament continue with the lie.

Of course CASA well knows that the only reason they don’t mandate the staffing of the air traffic control tower at Wagga (in the Deputy Prime Minister’s seat) is for cost reasons. In that particular case, they have correctly put cost increases in front of safety improvements.

Rather than tell the truth, they lie, lie, lie – and this article is a good example.

I have said it before – imagine the morale of working for that organisation. You would have to live the lie during the day, then presumably when you go home at night you are expected to set an example for your children and grandchildren to be honest and ethical. Wow, that is a hard one.

Dick whilst most pilots etc know that CASA can't lie straight in bed & are a hindrance to Aviation in this country any article that gets published by them goes to the whole Australian population, 26000000 people, we pilots etc are but a minority!
It's the general public that CASA are trying to justify their corrupt position/s not us!

You of all people ought to know that CASA will NEVER change it's under the counter mantra...."Safe Skies Are Empty Skies"

How on earth Neil Hansford continues to pass himself off as an "Aviation Expert" is beyond me.

Of course there are experts and then there are experts. Most of them are self proclaimed experts, not considered experts by their peers.
Believe me there is a huge difference!

Without attempting to teach anyone on these boards 'how to suck eggs' (at present a poor choice of a turn of phrase, I know!:D) but I'm sure that everyone here is aware of the various definitions of the work 'expert."

I use most of them every time I hear a certain someone described as an "Aviation Expert.":ugh:

Oh, and for the record, It isn't Hansford. Never really 'hoid of da bum!':D

Dick,
As you probably recall, the AFAP is the dominant union amongst FOIs and other "pilots" working for CASA. Indeed, at one stage it was reputed to be the biggest AFAP "branch".

You will recall that the same group have always vehemently opposed anything proposed by you, regardless of the merit of the proposal, based solely on the fact it was proposed by you.

Indeed, on one airspace proposal, you will recall the then "Technical Director" of AFAP saying: "I don't care how much f------ing safer the spetics (Septic Tanks + Yanks ---- if you are not into Cockney rhyming slang) are, we are not going to f------ing do what the f------ing septics do here in Australia!!"

This is just another attempt, riding on the Max8 publicity, to sink a proposal by Dick Smith, simply because it is a proposal by Dick Smith.

At least they are consistent. And have always opposed any form of cost/benefit justification.

Tootle pip!!
