Dudley Marrows ex RAAF

It was reported in this today's Brisbane paper of the passing of ex Flight Lieutenant Dudley Marrows at the age of 101.

Dudley Marrows was the captain of a Sunderland that sank U-461 in July 1943 in the Bay of Biscay.

There is a photo of Mr Marrows in another online forum.

But whom amongst knows the coincidence in the story of the sinking?

Yes correct, coded "U", the Sunderland was from 461 squadron RAAF.

Nice coincidence.

He was awarded a DSO & a DFC for his (and presumably his crew's) service.

The AWM has a few records of his and his crew's actions that are searchable.
