EK, ever on the lookout for loose change, is now charging pilots AED1100 when they go into replace malfunctioning EPTs (tablet used as an EFB) . Luckily you are not told when you hand it in, but rather you receive a deduction notice sometime later. Probably prevents broken noses etc this way .
Let's hope it's enough for them to make a profit . The tumbling Boliviano against the Congolese Franc must be making things very hard to manage .

You can pick them up on EBay as new old stock for $50. It’s a real shame when the company wants to enforce something punitively rather than realistically.

And pilots are still amazed when Emirates continues to treat us like they do? EK has to be one of the worse employers and will do everything they can to extract every last AED out of us.
Things you hear an Emirates pilot say.......
Its going to get better here.
This is better than my last employer.
Im flying a A-380.
I love the winters here.
95 hrs a month is not that bad.

Things you hear an Emirates pilot say.........
when they are trying to justify their continued place in Dubai.
When they can’t go anywhere else.
When they didn’t get hired by their National carrier.
When they suffer from a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome.
When they are from the 3rd world or act like they are.

Very very true. Lots of ego involved as well. I have so many mates still there that complain like there is no tomorrow but in their mind you can't go from a B777 or A380 back to a B737 or A320... They would rather be miserable instead and keep that ego in tact....

Similar story with the power bank that EK provides. You can buy one in the UAE for around a third of what the company charges for a replacement.

i flew with a FO recently and he was getting worried about getting charged for a cracked screen. Told him to take it down to Satwa and spend a few dirhams to get it fixed. The company must think we are a sandwich short of a picnic, if they expect us to accept such exorbitant charges for such a terrible and dated device.
