Hi there,

Does any one know if the retro painted BOAC 744 is scheduled for a visit to Perth? (Maybe as a centenary world tour for BA?) Would love to see it. Great memories for us "oldies"

Sadly Perth isn't on BA's route network anymore. The nearest you'll be able to see it will be Singapore.

Besides, the runway's a bit short.

Droll!

I wonder if BA may rethink to go back to PER - They have returned to DUR

I was hoping they may do a kind of John Travoltaesque, stunt, doing a lap of the world as an advertisement for the 100 yr centenary. Probaby a bit too much to ask :*

Kind of odd how BA are now magically 100, when traditionally KLM ( Oct 1919 ) and Avianca ( Dec 1919 ) were considered the World's oldest airlines and BA didn't even appear in the top 100.

Nothing a bit of historical revision can't fix, though. "Oh yeah, all those little inter-war airlines we never mentioned before... yeah, they're really important now." A bit like some bolted-on plotline for an Aussie soap!

I very much doubt it - The Middle East and Asian airlines have the market for Perth to Europe sewn up after Qantas in a brilliant bit of planning walked away from it. They have had to bring in non-stop to London to try and get back in again.

And bear in mind that will only happen if the OP gets very lucky and BA has to substitute a 744 for the 380 service BA11/12...a "sub" that has happened maybe once or twice in living memory.

( You are not likely to be see a 744 used as a "sub" for the 777-300 doing the BA15/16 through SIN to/from SYD because of the crewing requirements).
