View Full Version : Anyone Going To Avalon?

I have decided to go on Thursday out of shear curiosity. I have very low expectations. For the aerosexuals, cloud bunnies (as the CEO of Ryanair called them), spotters and pimply teenagers, there will be lots of noise and excitement on the weekend - good for them.

’I am hoping to find RAA, SAAA, Angel flight and perhaps get a few questions answered, that is all, but I doubt they will be up and running before Friday. The BOM stand is usually good. As for the defence hardware, been there done that so very little interest except it’s a pity the Russians aren’t coming.

Driving, not flying is my mode of transport. I don’t need the heat related turbulence nor the ramp check.

I will be going Friday (gold pass) and maybe Saturday
I am concerned about the temperatures (high 30°), I will be stuffed for sure.
Hopefully there will be a new BELL 505 for me to look at,
Have heard that Guimbal G2 will be on show,
I will have a look at the Chinese version of ICON A5 as well.

What is that saying about stupidity Sunfish? Something about repeating the same thing over again and expecting a different result???

That’s from 2013 but I reckon if I look hard enough I’ll find a more recent complaint.

Avalon Airshow is an expensive waste of time this year. I even took my cheque book and was looking to perhaps start buying the odd bit for the build. I was even prepared to be charmed by some new aircraft.

What a waste of time.

To the Lycoming salesman:

Wonderful to finally see the io 233 at last, pity you didn't have time to tell me anything about it apart from " it's 23,000" for what exactly?

To the garmin guys: thanks for the brochures and the offer of a follow up via email, pity there were no working models of anything.

Nice to see the Connie and Catalina and the b52.

Pity the bars didn't open till 2,00 pm. - and the $60 entrance fee,

Nothing new - a total waste of time unless you are a spotter or a ten year old,

SAAA will be up and running from Wednesday morning. Pop in and say Hi.. Can't speak for the others but RAAus set up the same time as us at the last airshow.

That weather can’t be good for the punters. 41 on the forecast, I’ve seen the TAF hit mid to high 40s on similar forecasted days down there.

Wonder what flying displays will be impacted.

It’s set to be a great airshow yet again.

Thanks to all my hard working friends behind the scenes setting this up.

just go and enjoy.

Sunfish, I recall you've complained about every Avalon Airshow you've attended over the last few years - why not save yourself the money and the hassle?
I always enjoy it - though the heat detracts from the enjoyment and this week is going to be sweltering!

Sunfish honestly, no one cares. We’re too busy enjoying things.

Thread temporarily closed due to hot head, cantankerous children posting ludicrous dribble.

Will reopen when a few have had time to cool down.
