The BA 747 in BOAC colours is on it's way from Dublin to Heathrow (BA100). Should land about 10.15.

Union flag on the nose is a bit too high. :O

Other than that, it looks fabulous. Can't wait to see it in the sunshine.

Like 99.9% of books ever published. What's with all the anti-portrait rage these days?!

The 747 is a perfect shape to look at with vertical alignment.

As I was taught back in the 80s; look at your subject. Now, turn the camera to portrait. Look again and choose.

Because usually, photos of aircraft (especially airliners) are taken in landscape because of their shape?

That's all fine and good when shooting stills, I think that DRUK's frustration is that it's a video and as such portrait looks crap when viewed on a landscape orientated screen.

If the 747 was doing this, I wouldn't object to portrait. :O

I bet there is some Airport rule being broken by these snappers about photo's being taken on the ramp. Works both ways

Is there a chance a charter could be organized for BOAC Nostalgic lovers ?

Is there a chance a charter could be organized for BOAC Nostalgic lovers ?

Well, that would of course be rather lovely, BUT when #BA100 tried to run 3 (domestic) 747 flights on 25 AUG to celebrate the date Greta's Gang, & the Climate Change lot seemingly press ganged BA into flight-shaming, and the 3 flights using all 3 retro 747's were canned...
BA won't admit it but that's the case - Thank you to that t**t Simon Calder for heading up the Rebellion Lot to the notice in his Travel article of running the GLA,MAN & NCL flights would be bad for the climate...Dick!

So, I doubt now that BA would entertain any such flights - Ian Allan used to be the ones who arranged such jollies.

I suppose anyone could charter a plane and try to sell the seats if you have the right contacts and are prepared to underwrite the costs - I would imagine it would be a sell out PDQ.

Now, there's a thought, where's my phone?

So how does the 3rd runway and airport extension at LHR fir in with Greta's gang etc? The pollution and energy useage associated with all the construction work must surely offend her, so why no huge protests to stop any airport expansion?

Meanwhile in other places, such as China, the building of new airports continues unabated.....

Who really cares?
I'm just looking forward to more funny memes about her.

White nose?? Who saw a white nose? Red at Christmas (but I may have mistaken it for one of Santa's reindeer)......

Red? White? It was blue last time I saw it.

Over the years, every time BA's livery changed it was a fairly common sight to see an aircraft flying with a replacement radome belonging to the previous/subsequent scheme. The mismatch will typically only be rectified either when one can be found that matches or (less likely) some time can be found in the paint bay schedule.

The current BA scheme has a white radome, and it sounds like one of those has been fitted to the retro BOAC 747. Whether fixing it soon will be a priority remains to be seen - I hope so, but fear not.

G-BYGC has had one of the "off-white" noses fitted, I believe it was switched on Sunday as this was photographed the same day with the change

It looks a little odd, mind you, both Landor and BEA had mismatched engines re-matched pretty quickly, it just depends whether now after #ba100 there is a willingness or just let them become the new "Doves" where which looked very bitty and blue after a while. Aer Lingus let EI-DVM fly with a white nose for ages but this one has also just gone for a respray

I'm quite disappointed by the BOAC livery - it's not what I remember. The gold on the tail looks brownish to me. Not that my colour vision is perfect.
