I recently chanced across an expat pilot for Xiamen who is also a recruiter for them. He told me that they have 20 resumes from CX pilots and asked me “what’s that all about then”. So I told him.
They have just upped their recruitment target by another 100 for this year and intend becoming a 600 aeroplane airline. He also said that they are increasing the commuting options in order to attract expats.

Yeah only if they have a VALID 737 rating which kind of doesn't exist in CX, either your mate has no idea what's going on or you're sticking to the true nature of this forum

Chinese airlines want/need expat pilots but the powers that be there dont want you. Hence the red tape and BS to get in to the airlines.

He’s not my mate he is just a pilot I met. I didn’t say they had 737 ratings, maybe they have. All the 20 have done is send on their resumes.

A B777 rating will get you a B787 rating in most jurisdictions.

CX has 777s, Xiamen has 787s with quite a lot more on the way.

No expats are going onto the 787’s, only 737’s.

Recruitment on the 787. By all accounts, if you want to work for a PRC carrier, Xiamen is the one to chose.

Pity about the NASA level Medicals you need to pass every year.

48 days on and 12 days off.... um no thanks

Having looked at this option many years ago, it is only really suitable for local HKG pilots. Plus when there is any downturn the expats are kicked out first. When they wrote off a 737 last year in Manila every expat was suspended despite the fact the captain on that flight was Chinese.

Captain on the Manila flight was Korean, hence an expat. Therefore all expats required special sim checks. Load of crap.

I think unitedabx understands the term "expat" to mean "from US/UK/Aus/NZ/Can and with white skin".

Get over yourself! Nobody cares about your skin color. It’s your ridiculous cultural norms than run counter to safe aviation.

All 737 recruiting is now ceased but still recruiting typed 777,787 or 747 for their 787 fleet.

I'm a 767 Pilot interested in a 787 Position at Xiamen Air. However, contract agencies are ignoring my resume because of the 767 type. Does anyone have direct contact info for Xiamen? PM if you like.

They're not interested in a 767 type. Only 777 and 747. Look into Japan. Options there.
