Haven't flown professionally in a while. I'm thinking about getting back in. Does Cathay still have a very negative view with respect to working there as a pilot? Last time I checked, it was amongst the last places for pilots nowadays to apply. Pilots said HK is bad place to live. Cathay is hypersensitive and treats their pilots like garbage. B pay scale. No housing for ex-pat pilots, etc.

Has anything changed?

You may want to re-post or move this to Fragrant Harbour, home of the CX crew.
Then brace yourself.

The latest package, CoS 18, I received from them says the “target salary” for a new FO is 825,000HKD per year before tax and 18,000 housing allowance. I think you can take home pretty much the same amount anywhere in Asia. So i guess it all depends where and how you want to live.

You will only make that much if you achieve their targets, which are not reachable at the moment. For the past few years, I have only achieved 85% of their target, so you are actually looking at only getting $700,000.
