Hi all,
I'm looking to travell to Costa Rica for a surf trip and have a few questions.
If trying to get to the more removed surf locations (eg Playa Tamarindo, north & south etc) from San Jose is the public transport a good way to go or the local airlines an easier way?
If an airline is easier, which out of SANSA and Travelair is the go?
Advice on a place/s to go would also be appreciated.

Regards

FFRATS.

Basically choice of two carriers:
1 - SANSA (part of TACA/LACSA) flying single engine Cessna Caravans - two pilot IFR operation. Two recent fatal accidents.
Fly from SJO Juan Santa Maria International and daylight only schedules.
2 - TRAVELAIR flying mainly twin engined BN Islanders/Trislander in single/two pilot VFR operation. USA registered aircraft.
Fly from downtown San Jose PAVAS airport daylight only.
Both carriers offer similar destinations - best are the Pacific ones like Tamarindo, Tambor (even Liberia) and Quepos (serving the Manuel Antonio National Park area).
Mountainous terrain, volcanoes, rain forest and lovely beaches!

Hey Hommie,

Appears to me that you miss't out on the longest waves in Cooly.
You poor thing! You must be devestated!!

One thing I have to do one day is learn how to surf. Im a pretty good body surfer, but the board is my next objective. Maybe I will join you soon FFRats, until then take care brother....... Hopefully one day I will meet some blonde surfer chick that will show me how to go the distance. Maybe try to improve your game of squash first cause im running out of cans of whip ass kicking your blessed hind in every other sport..

CentralFlow,
thanks for the info.
2 accidents for SANSA souds a bit suss.
Where they caused by mechanical failure etc. or pilot error such a CFIT?

Mark CRUISE,
YES, I did miss the waves at Cooly last week but will make it up in Bali in two weeks time, then hopefully Costa in SEPT.
You should check out the BN2 work there. Sounds just like PNG's flying.
I will take you up on the squash game. If I remember correctly I kicked your ass last game. :p

I looked into it already FFRATS my friend. I think that the a/c overthere are U.S registered which is bit of a bummer for me. Thanks anyway.

As for the game of squash, you know I was only taking it easy on you cause of the hip grinding/ass blasting sessions I gave you be forehand. Remember the word sportsmanship.

Your still a winner in my heart FFRATS.

Love,

CRUISE.

Now that I've finally got my account to work again, I can set the record straight.

Mark and FFRATS, I kicked BOTH of your arses last time we played sqaush. Mark, you know that's true and FFRATS, just humour me -I'm losing my job  !!

2daddies,

I have no recollection about ever losing a game in any sport. By the way wasnt the last time we played that time you were hiding behind my massive back after hearing gun shots out the front of those dodgy squash courts. I'll let you hide behing me anytime Mol ;)

Sorry to hear about your job. I guess tis not over to till the fat lady screams "give it to me you tall and skinny man". I know it would definately be over if you roll over twice and your still on top of her. But sometimes my friend you just gotta keep on rolling and thats the bottom line.
