Just wondering how GA friendly McCarran Int are. Going over to CA to fly soon and quite fancied spending a night in Vegas.
Cheers

McCarran does service GA aircraft. Signature Aviation is right off of 19R abd the strip is right out their front door. There is a downside though, I was there last week and they were asking $3.20 a gallon for 100LL and there is a $20.00 tie down/ handling fee. That fee is $35.00 for overnight if you do not purchase fuel.

Better to fly into N. Las Vegas, no tie down fee, cheaper fuel and a free shuttle to and from the strip. Signature is convenient though, the Mandalay Bay hotel is right outside the front door.

I have not been there since 1999, and it was very friendly then. E-mail B Sousa on this forum as he lives there and flies out of LAS.

There is also N. Las Vegas airport that is a general aviation aerodrome.

Enjoy your visit,

:D

N LV very helpful. Free ride into the strip, but a $25 cab ride when you want to return!

When I enquired a few months back, it was $60 to tie down at McCarran?

How much further away is North Las Vegas Airfield. Sounds like the better option to me.

Thanks

Your using my name again as if I really know whats going on....ha ha
Anyway, if your visitng Las Vegas you have options other than LAS(McCarran Intl). If your in a Lear or above , by all means LAS. Thats a busy airport and yes they will give you service but I think you may be happier at either North Las Vegas VGT or Henderson L15. Its sort of the place us little guys go too....
Call ahead and you can make all the necessary arrangements. Casinos will pick you up if you have the right one....
Make sure you have full knowledge of the Class B airspace as its very important in this day and age. Screwups cost you money, which can be the least of your problems..
ATC is very helpful, just be patient....

Email is good if you need further....

henderson is now HND and they are doing some work there, you ll want to check it.north las vegas is where ga is. ride to the strip not always that easy but you ll get there.tie down and fuel-cheap,new huge maintanance shop, lone mountain, couple of hotels next door if you are tired. If you are not familiar, get flt following all the way in,atc is friendly, avoid the hoover dam by a few miles as it it now a hot spot, have fun.

Yes, and the HND runway is now 1000 feet shorter due to construction (new runway)... VGT much better...construction complete.

If you play your cards (and the tables and the slots) right, on your night stop, you won't need to worry about the handling charges etc at LAS!!

Try 10$ on 23 red on the roulette - seemed to work for me on 3 visits in the past 2 years!!

Good luck mon brave

At LAS Signature is not the only game in town. The other option is Las Vegas Executive. They are on the Northwest corner. I use them almost exclusively. They have always treated well. And you are right on the strip. North Las Vegas (VGT) also know locally as North Town, is very friendly. But if you are flying a high performance aircraft beware, the runway is 5000 long with lots of trainer traffic.
