Normally not very exciting, but today I took my camera, because this is not just any old airport - it's a Water Aerodrome!

I watched my daughter's flight on FR24:

A lovely, early spring day, and while I was waiting, I had time to wander out onto a dock and take a picture of Harbour Air's DHC-3T C-FODH in its Canada 150 colour scheme. They have a Beaver in the same colour scheme.

Aaah, de Havilland! :)

There were four Turbo Otters and a Series 100 Twin Otter on the dock. A Kenmore Air flight left and made room for my daughter's aircraft.

Fab.

I was in New York City in the summer and there was steady of stream of seaplanes departing from the East River - I assume shuttling the well off over to the Hamptons. It was an impressive sight, viewed from the North Brooklyn shore, the aircraft set against the Manhattan Skyline. They were out sharp-ish too, never quite had time to get a photo, bah.

IFT, you remind me of a very pleasant couple of hours wife and I spent in Victoria. Were sightseeing on a wharf admiring the houseboats, a multi story erected on a concrete floating bathtub arrangement. A chap was working on one and invited us in to have a look. Took us to the third story (top deck) where we sat on the balcony and watched the float plane proceedings not much more than 100 yards distant - Beavers, Otters, Twin Otters. The Twin Otters are now being built in Sidney, just to the north.

megan,

There is something very nice about sitting and watching floatplane operations, on a nice day.

Here are some DHC-6-400 "white tails" I saw at Victoria (CYYJ) two years ago. Viking builds them there and then flies them to Calgary for painting and interior finishing.
