The SAS troops were interrogated and beaten up, with the ultimate insult that they were called "unidentified aliens". To enact their revenge, the SAS "gave" the USAF their own version of an alien event;....as December approached, lights and coloured flares were rigged in the woods. Doesn't do it for me I'm afraid! Having spent quite some time in that and related environments and being very well aware of how things were done;(professionally I might add), there are too many holes in that perception. Wiki is for those who don't know better!
I don't believe that anyone would risk their lives to test the security measures at a special weapons facility, too great a risk of ending up dead.
