View Full Version : Fuel dumping over Hastings?

Apologies for aviation content but 11.30ish today I heard an airliner flying low here in Hastings. So I checked Flightradar24 to see a BA 747, BA65 LHR to Nairobi circling nearby at 8,000 ft. I watched for a few circuits and then it returned to LHR.

This also happened a few months ago and again last year with similar flight paths. I assume there is good reason for turning back and that they are dumping fuel. But why dump over Hastings? Why not Tunbridge Wells or Eastbourne? Is this a conspiracy or is it chemtrails? Imagine the pilots' briefing. "And if you go tech and have to return, fuel dump over Hastings, it's a tip anyway, no-one will notice or care."

Looks like he dumped, I mean held over Canterbury first. Welby must have complained...

hiflymk3 - this is genuine coincidence, have a look at my post on Jet Blast Rules of Engagement. I hadn't seen your thread when I posted mine but it's very good timing!

Tunbridge Wells? Never, sir. Or, choose your weapon..............

Eastbourne would be safer: everyone seems to smoke on the street in Hastings. One chance spark and it could all be over.

Brollies and bowlers at twenty paces.

Mr Optimistic. That's an inflammatory remark.

Tankertrashnav. Pure coincidence, but in my apology for aviation content I was following what I assumed to be form here. Sorry about that. ;-) However, I feel that discussing aviation in JB is like going to the pub after work with your colleagues and talking shop. :=

In that case, they should have dumped it on Brighton.

Wonder what the pilots were discussing as they circled near Canterbury.

"Now if we get the nose gear up, will it come down again?"
"Nah! Better not try, best turn back then."
"We'll have to do a fuel dump. Wait... let's dump over Tunbridge Wells my ex lives there."
"Or Eastbourne, my ex lives there."
"How about Hastings? My ex mother-in-law lives there."
"Well what a coincidence, so does mine."
"Hastings it is then."

You sure we can't just do it here? Nah, Justin case. You mean Justin Welby? Same thing...
