Hi,
On your own opinion, would you prefer to stay within RYR or leave to a french base TUI fly belgium for 6-9months, with a good contract.

Not to easy to answer and need your point of view.
5/4 roster in RYR is great, opportunity is great, fast upgrade, but overcrewing F/O so less hours per copilot, hence salary decreases.

TUI based in Fr good contract, around 5000e gross, pay taxes in france, get social security and retirement. But what happens at the end of the contract ? If not renewed ?

Banana Joe is correct - you WILL be Jobless for sure and if they want you - they may call you after a unpaid break of 4 - 5 months...... they promise you a perm contract but that’s fake promises..

From what I hear from Pilots there is stay away - you will be mad to leave RYR to join there -

Leave :mad:air :yuk::yuk:, but why go for a temporary contract, there are plenty of permanent jobs around for someone with your background at :mad:air?

Ok Thank you guys for you opinions.

First I think for less than 1000h, not so many good opportunities in France, even more if you want to stay on 737.
Transavia, Airfrance, Hop but hard to get. easyJet really good but even harder to get, and minimum 1000h on jet needed.

So TUI based in France would, I think, be a good way to come back to France.
But again, hard to know what to do after 9 months if contract is not renewed.

TUI based in France as a contractor Temporary 6-9 months, is arround : 4500 gross + 500 travel Allowance + 10% end of contract + per diem = arround 6000e per month gross. Which I think is a good contract .

What do you guys think ?

I would not leave a permanent contract for a temporary contract ever. Even leaving Ryanair on good terms does not mean the door will still be open if you want to return. I would remain at Ryanair and continue to look for a better option. There is no rush, wait until you have a job offer that you would jump at and don't need to seek reassurance on PPRuNe.

You will be a contractor, not an employee!!!
As a contractor you are self employed, there is nothing on top of the 6000€, you will be responsible/liable for social security, health care, pension....
There are almost no crews based in France in the winter, so no opportunity for a permanent contract.

Try travel services, base CDG, if already type rated 737, contract even better than TUI. Gross is 6500euro + duty pay.

2) Fixed, short-term employee or a contractor are two seriously different things. I do not think the second is possible in France, though.
3) Apart from the most senior 30% of the pilot pool, any TVS pilot in Prague (company's seat) would leave for RYR if PRG was a possible base. Several did only on the hope of getting PRG base later one day.
4) I think RYR is a VERY GOOD place to be at the beginning of the career, to develop the skills and soak the responsibilities. Such boot-camp will do much good for the latter years.

- I was speaking about FO job as well ... 2 year FO to become SFO, Salary SFO Travel Services is 7654 euro gross + duty pay, Captain 10055 euro + duty pay
- I don't know for Prague, but in Paris, lot of FO came from ryanair ...
- if you speak French currently you are sure to have the France base, Paris fisr, Lyon and Lille possible later. No ryanaiR french base so far and when it will open I m sure lot of already french ryanair pilots will go for it.

For France, I think currently Travel services is a good choice.

Travel service request arround 1000h I believe and TUI does request only a type rating.

Some guys did leave RYR for TUI based in France, but still, if something wrong happens in the industry, RYR will never go bankrupt, whereas TUI will first stop contractors in France for sure.

Although RYR is starting to expand in France, BOD and MRS (2A/C each from april). Still really hard to get.

Hard decision to do I guess.

I have to say, if you're looking for CDG base, beside AF, Travel Service is probably one the best option so far.
I'm signing with them tomorow, NTR low timers, first airline experience, living nearby so I'm not complaning at all.

For RYR french base, I'd be curious to see the french contract they are about to offer. There is still a court decission to be made regardig the MRS case. I won't be suprise if they use contractor at first.

Congratulation for the job.
As a first job it is a good opportunity, but what would you do if in October they don't renew your contract ? You will barely have 400/500h by then.

It is a permanent contract (French CDI), so they don't have to renew it.

Travel service is permanent contract.

Worse case senarios, if you are already type rated but not enough experience and you start as junior FO, the salary is 2650 euro gross + duty pay. You automatically move to FO Salary (6450 euro+ duty pay, see my post above) after 1 year.

Assement in December and January.
Lot of recruitment going on currently.

I signed with them as well, as direct entry non type rated Captain. Happy to go back home after 5 years away.

Sarah where did you get that rubbish from. If you know anything about France and TUI the pilots are never self employed if they select a decent agency. To the contrary social costs paid , end of contract bonus and if no job at end you can claim French unemployment you are talking a load of rubbish sorry

ZAV - well Sarah is not entirely wrong.... going through as a contractor via an agency means you are still a contractor ....

You pay all your dues and not have an seniority or anything - seen as a contractor and renewed if they wish every year...... so effectively you work for 9 months then are released and hopefully called back.....
