The mess has been derelict/out of bounds for at least 16 years.

Still, good for the filming of 28 months later.

Would that refer to the mess that had been used by AOTS Officer Cadets in the late 1960s etc?

The Officers' Mess (opposite the station entrance) was bulldozed some 20 years ago.

I taught at CF for a couple of years and do not recognise the buildings captured in the grisly photos.

May we be glad that someone with deep pockets has saved and is trying to use the main part of the airfield ?
