View Full Version : Bell 412 EP FastFin
Greetings Rotorheads
Can anyone give me some indication on what sort of ratio there is between Bell 412s fitted with FastFin (either as original fit or as a modification) and standard - also whether the ratio varies much from continent to continent?
Any thoughts much appreciated.

I am pretty sure all the EPIs coming out of the factory have it as standard now.

Ned, stop dicking around.
You likely have pictures of every 412 out there...can't you just spend 5 minutes and browse thru them all and give us a count??? :8
Thanks Ned, that was my understanding.
Good point Gray, thank you - you just can't get people to put the effort in nowadays ;-)
I can have a reasonable estimate of numbers that have left the factory with FastFin, I guess I'm after some idea of how many might have been retrofitted.

Two and a half years ago BLR sold their 1000th FastFin kit (https://www.blraerospace.com/2016/02/29/blr-delivers-1000th-fastfin-tail-rotor-enhancement-and-stability-system/), and while they didn't give a breakdown between types, they had not had the H125 FastFin certified at that point, so that's 1000 between Bell 204, 205, 212, 412, UH-1 - including both civil and military
Bell announced (https://www.blraerospace.com/2010/07/19/bell-to-install-faa-certified-blr-fastfin-enhancement-on-new-412s/) back in mid 2010 that they indended fitting FastFin as standard in 412s if that's a help in your calculations
Thanks for that Helihub, that a good starting point for me.

My company has one 412EP and eight 212's. All the 212's have fastfins, but the EP doesn't.
Thanks Pilot
I assume the 212s were retrofitted?

I've never seen a 212 or 412 with FastFin, and I've been around them in different parts of the world since 1993.
