Ran across this article this morning that discusses the training progression for Night Stalker Pilots and Crews.

It has some interesting comments about the various aircraft and the general capabilities of each.

You ever applied to them SAS, when you were in the mob flying the 47?

Cheers

They were created long after I had hung up my spurs!

Had I been in at the time....I certainly would liked to have had an opportunity to serve with that unit.

They do some very interesting work and have first class kit to do it with.

Spent some time with the Night Stalkers a few years ago, and was amused by the banter between the Little Bird and Black Hawk guys. The former described themselves as the Rock Stars of the outfit, while the latter said all they ever heard from them was; "Slow down, I can't keep up!" and, "I'm nearly out of gas!"
The Chinook guys appeared to rise above it all.

Australian Army is in the process of buying 16 helos for special ops. Size dictates that four can be carried in a C-17 at a time....

MH-6M looking good methinks. They will be backed up by 12 MRH90 [POS]....

The Nightstalkers were in Uk albeit with a pair of A/MH-6i Little Birds at RAF Leeming, 2 years ago for exercise Jaded Thunder Whiteman's finest Warthogs also partook as well as 100 Sqn.

First time Jaded Thunder took place outside the CONUS I believe and first time the Nightstalkers have exercised in the UK?

Two books by Michael Durant who was shot down and taken captive during the Mogadishu Fight.....very sobering account of his experience during that epic fight.

"In The Company of Heroes" and a later book "The Night Stalkers".
