Hey all,

In 10 months time, I will have my ATPLH, with approx. 200 hours on the Cabri G2 and also my type rating with a few hours on the Bell 206.

Does anyone know what sort of jobs would be applicable for me to apply for in Australia (Brisbane area) with the hours I will have?

how do you intend to have your ATPL(H) with only 200 hours?

Apologies, I will have my CPL (I am currently doing my ATPL theory). So, I will have my CPLH with 200 hours!

With her wording I would suggest she is from Europe with a frozen ATPL H, she mentioned Type rating on a bell 206 also.

I would suggest she gets a Robinson R44 single class rating and starts from there

You need 1000 hours helicopter, 200 hours cross country, 30 hours instrument, 50 hours night (not dual) etc etc for an ATPL-H.

And as for jobs in the Brisbane area with 200 hours total helicopter time, you can join the queue behind me (I have a real ATPL-H and 7000 hours multi-engine helicopter + IFR etc etc), and others. And I'm happy to fly a B206, but not a Robinson. So, as @ersa suggests, an R44 single class rating might be useful. You'll earn far more money working at Burger King or McDonalds or KMART or on unemployment benefits than a 200 hour CPL-H. A newly minted CPL-H doesn't get to choose where they work, certainly not in a major capital city. You'll likely work as a hangar rat out bush doing refuelling and aircraft cleaning and floor sweeping for a few years. They might let you do ground runs in exchange for your effort, and if you're very lucky and in the right place at the right time, maybe a ferry flight. That is the reality of the situation.

Rotary girl, don’t be demoralized by some of the comments you will get on here. Unfortunately as some other ppruners say it is quite hard to find a job as a junior helicopter pilot.
I don’t know much about Australia, but What I would suggest for you is looking in to getting an F visa and doing a cfi course in the USA at one of the major schools then hopefully working there to build up your hours.
Piston Hours wount get you very far in Europe but at least it’s hours.
option 2 is a multiengine ir in Europe but that’s very expensive and still your changes of getting are job would be quite slim.

I don't know how hard it was before CASA introduced the disaster that was (and still is) the new Part 61 regs, but it now quite involved from what I understand.
I only converted to a CASA CPL-H and that was painful enough.
From what I understand the large offshore and EMS companies have had to do all their ATPL upgrades and conversions 'in-house'....but I digress.

And to Rotary Girl, I am a foreigner who converted and managed to get a job in Australia. Not easy and as has been mentioned before, plenty of competition from young local pilots starting out. PM me for details if you would like.
