We’re always hearing about homophobia and intolerance from the straight community. Sadly, it seems as though those that aren’t ‘properly’ gay are also subject to shaming by some of the LBGT members.

That's only because the latter group are out-of-date and don't seem aware that nowadays it's LGBTQIAPK.

Only another 17 letters to go until no-one can possibly feel left out or offended.

I just find it interesting that so many all want to have the fact that they’re different acknowledged and accepted - and then complain that they’re treated differently!

How many heterosexuals do you know who would prefer to be ina civil partnership rather than a marriage ? What would be the advantage ?

A fundamental equality of the basic rules of society. It's what they seem to want isn't it? or is it only when it benefits them?

You use the expession "with that lot"................ reality is majority of people that are LGBT and whatever aren't involved in groups like this.

That show you seem to want to categorise people based on their orientation.

That says a lot about you.................. to me they are just people, not different, just people.

Yeah, just people - who have 'pirated' the word 'gay' from the English language so it has an entirely different meaning from the original.
What would the Fred Astaire film 'The Gay Divorcee' (1934) be called if it were made nowadays? Moreover what would (say) a teenager who wasn't aware of the orginal meaning of 'gay' assume the film was about if they didn't read a synopsis?

Funny no teenagers were abused when they started using the word "Wicked" in a different context to what someone would have suggested in 1970's

Language evolves and new words appear or old words get used for something different..................... has always happened.

I had to laugh at Germaine Greer proclaiming trans male to female were not to be considered as women, it sounded so much better when Monty Python said it.

I recall the delightful double entendre which was the title of the show by ‘Dame Edna’s’ alter ego when he toured years ago: ’An Evening’s Intercourse with Barry Humphries’.

‘Intercourse’. Now there’s a word that has changed its generally accepted meaning.

His next tour was called ‘Barry Humphries: The Second Coming’.

I have a lot of gay mates (lads and blokes) who really dislike being lumped into this LGBTQXYZ bollox - they are simply guys who like guys in bed - end of

They (their words) said they are fed up being included into some diversity inclusion enrichment nonsense which they never agreed to be part of (sometimes seen as tantamount to a ''show'' they say, I cannot say they word used ) which they feel is feeding more hate in recent times.

Anyone can, and should be free to do whatever they want to, but perhaps we all should be mindful that to include everyone who is not straight under ONE umbrella is actually the right thing ?

I totally see the point...

Wrong. Do keep up; "Normal" is an extreme condition that all other Categories despise, and is therefore illegal.

Thought that was in Wales?

Thing is, if you want to Brand something...anything....it must be easily recognized and easily understood. Like - Coke or Tide or Ford.

LGBTQIAPKLMNOP...does not cut it.
And I can show you where the "I really don't give a damn door" is.

The problem lies in the fact that everyone considers themselves "Unique" and there are those who have won acclaim for their group by shouting loudly that they get victimised. So now due to the miracles of t'internet, people who have similar likings can form groups and lobby loudly that they are being victimised and want the same equality too. Pretty soon everyone will want to be identified as a minority. Jordan Peterson has said some good things on this subject and how it is unsustainable.

I do recall a former colleague getting shouted down when he kept using GLB rather than LGB in those days, mostly by the female gender who felt they should go first. But then again I got a stern look from an HR woman who asked me what LGB meant to me and I started talking about Laser Guided Bombs.

I feel like starting a group for "Humans", with the intent of just lumping everyone into the same category. Bet you I get a protest from someone who identifies as something else....

Agreed. I have a gay chum whose interests include antiques, classical music and Guinness - he certainly doesn't define himself by his sexuality. As for going on a "gay pride" march, he wouldn't be seen dead on one.

Funnily enough, my daughter went for a employment as a mainstream school bus escort (or whatever the correct term is) When the contract arrived, it was titled as Special Needs Escort. She rang up the county council’s HR department to check the job title and got the very frosty response of, “Do you have a problem with special needs people then?”
“Er, no. I just wanted to clarify that you had sent the correct paperwork as the interviewer hadn’t referred to that particular role.”
Almost looking for offence, where there was none, and showing political correctness over sensitivity.
