I have to say I always liked their music, though perhaps they were more of a London phenomenon. Sad that he succumbed to his cancer after it seemed that he'd beaten it.

Wasn't he actually quite a reputable session musician back in the 60's?

Wasn't he actually quite a reputable session musician back in the 60's?

Before founding Chas & Dave, Hodges had worked with the producer Joe Meek, as a session musician, backing Jerry Lee Lewis and Gene Vincent, and has also played with Mike Berry and 'The Outlaws' along with Ritchie Blackmore, and Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers.

Harpenden Public Hall about 1966 or so . . .

There were so many groups (and also at the Old Albanians Rugby Club) that I cannot remember which were 'genuine' and which were tribute bands.

I could go on and on and on about Saturday nights at The Twisted Wheel....

The Graham Bond Organisation

The Alan Bown Set

Jimmy James and The Vagabonds

Georgie Fame and The Blue Flames

Steam Packet ( which consisted of Julie Driscoll, Long John Baldry, Rod Stewart ( I think ) and The Brian Auger Trinity )

All of them British Soul Bands and in talent and musicianship about as far away from the Merseybeat era as you could imagine....

One of the greats.
I heard Heads Hands & Feet on a late night radio show a few years ago, Albert Lee AND Chas Hodges. What a line up!

Enjoy

Warming Up the Band

His book about gardening is well worth a read.too

Thanks for that Turin! That guitar riff reminds me of 'Life in the Fast Lane' by the Eagles.
