Hi All,

I have been unfortunate enough to sustain a cataract in one eye (Caused by trauma several years ago). I hold my class one and meet the 6/9 requirement and I am currently employed and flying, however it does appear to be deteriorating and I want to get it fixed. I have just been to see the Ophthalmologist and surgery will correct the issue.

I have spoken extensively with the surgeon and I am familiar with the operation and risks etc. However being that my sight is my career and livelihood I want to hear from fellow pilots regarding their experiences with the surgery/CASA/DAME's. I am wondering if anyone has had the surgery whilst holding their class one and working? Any considerations I should think about? Was it fairly straight forward with returning to service once seeing your DAME?

Thank you all!

I'd be paying a visit to a Designated Aviation Ophthalmologists. DAO's (https://www.casa.gov.au/licences-and-certification/aviation-medicine/pilots-and-air-traffic-controllers/designated-aviation)
