Having worked all night, I was rudely awakened by an inordinate number of radial cylinders which proved to be attached to a B-17 and a Helldiver en route to my home drome.

Upon investigation, it's the gulf coast CAF doing their usual sterling work proselytizing among the Yankees.

all afternoon, hundreds of gallons of highly toxic, likely carcinogenic, burned 100LL have rained down upon my part of town as these guys have given rides.

more power to them...🤠

I was wondering what the heck a B-16 was...

I went for a ride on the Collins B-17 around 10 years ago - priceless. My big regret is that my WWII vet dad (South Pacific - Purple Heart on Guadalcanal, Bronze Star somewhere over there but unlike the Purple heart, he never talked about the Bronze Star) wasn't still alive so that I could take him along.
Back in 1976, Colorado Springs somehow managed to book what was then the Confederate Air Force for the July 4 bicentennial weekend (I know Commemorative AF is more politically correct, but they will always be the Confederate AF in my mind). My summer job at the time was to drive a parts delivery truck for a car dealer in Pueblo (~40 miles from C Springs). I was out making a delivery when I heard that sound! I looked up - B-17, B-25, P-38, and P-51 flying in formation overhead. When I got home from work I immediately asked my dad if we could go up to Springs for the show - it took about a half a second for him to agree :ok:

I fly a T-28c with an 1820 routinely.

The thought of driving four of them gives me impure thoughts...

421dog.......I got a few hours in the Sikorsky CH-37 Mojave at Fort Rucker.....twin R-2800 Radials!

LOVED the sound of those two hunks of cast iron starting....lots of coughing, backfiring, smoke, and flame!

The CH-34 had the R-1820 and was a sweetheart to fly!

Overboost and the R-1820.
I am going to guess that the CH-34 didn't have a supercharger; that was a bit before my time.
