Impressive Chinook rescue on Mount Hood

Happened last month, a climber climbed the mountain intent on committing suicide but changed his mind, the Chinook picked up the injured climber and the rescue team.

Very interesting Nutty, hope you are well.
according to Wiki this is over 11k ft and the second most climbed mountain in the world. I wonder which is the most climbed.
If it was in the Uk our guys would need to fly on oxygen at that height. Impressed by the discipline of those being rescued. No rush or panic.
My Daughter said she would like to climb a mountain. My knees are had it but I may do Mam Tor before she goes back to school. My idea of mountaineering these days is the Mad Cat at Pidley. (Folks in Cambridgeshire will understand)

No sorry Fantom. Just an occasional drinker there. My eldest son is heavily involved with CamSAR. My Brother and Mother used to work with Gill in the Police. Youngest daughter currently supporting the MAGPAS Helicopter. I have to take her and other charity supporters to Wyton next month. The chopper operates from the old OCU offices that were built when my Dad was on the OCU.

back to the Chinook-I thought it was an amazing piece of Helicopter driving.

I seem to recall another, less impressive, attempt at a helo rescue on Mt. Hood several years back (~20 years ago IIRC).
Not a Chinook (memory says single main rotor) - however they crashed after the main rotor struck an outcrop...
Miraculously, as I recall no one was seriously hurt. Frightening video of the crash out there if someone cares to go looking.
Good to see things went better this time.
