I'm also looking for information on them as well. Do you know about their compensation packages for first officers and other benefits?

You're right. I've heard of the week figures for years. Thought it had change. Flying pay is added to the $4400 I believe right?

no. Unless it’s over the contractual minimums. Count on what they offer unless you go over mins.

Any chance you have the figures for Captains on the 737?
I thought it was around 6000$ all included but if that's almost what FOs make then it must be higher.
Thanks!

It's never been the greatest gig, I mean 8 weeks on for starters???
I'm sure the constant advertising for crew is not so much expansion as due to that nobody wants to fly for those T's and C's.

This has been posted before on other threads. It was $8000 for Skippers. It WAS a good gig. The Greeks ran flight ops. Then......came......The Thpanith.....then african astronauts from Arik. The Africans were better than the Thpanith. 737 Fleet Manager is a Greek. That fleet runs well. Nice city, nice country, nice climate. Ok place to hang your hat to maintain currency till something else better comes along. Did I mention The Thpanith were horrible?

be careful with the commuting wording. Captain Ricardo Naval of Thpain stopped the commuting tickets and only allowed tickets to Europe. Btw, the Canary Islands are considered Europe. The commuting ban affected half the pilot group and it turns out, tickets to the Canary Islands were actually more expensive than to N America and W afrika. Did ”the agency” that recruited pilots that starts with an R and based in Ireland assist their pilots? Nope! Thankfully, these Thpanith management types were chased out and some even declared PNG by the Rwandese. Just make sure whoever you use, abides by the contract. It HAS been violated.

LRozenberg your inbox is full.
I dont know much except the venue will be in Nairobi, sim scenario more or less same as for PC (N-1, raw data approach...) and system questions during interview.
Seems straightforward and friendly but a certain level of performance is required.
Good luck and tell us!
Cheers

Been invited for a screening in Germany. Not much info yet due to time difference (it's 7am their time and I've only just confirmed my availability). Any insights to what I'm in for in Germany? Just the sim, or the interviews as well? What type of aptitude test? Technical questions?

I’m a bit confused. Is the interview in Germany or Kenya please? Is Rishworth the only agent? Do you guys know their selection criterion? I mean such as experience on type, license preferences, origin...

How was the screening guys? Would you mind giving us a feedback?
Thanks!

Check Rwanda airs own webpage. It says all the requirements and how to apply without agency 🙂

Yes it does say all the requirements on the company’s website. But it also says the deadline for submission was October 8, 2016. I assume Rwandair has changed their policy on pilot recruitment after that day. Am I right or wrong please? Thanks!

i would go with an agency. Less chance of getting effed with it having contract violated. This is based on first hand experience.

Does anyone know what the CRJ street captain position pays?

Also that commuter schedule sounds a little rough, any way to live in country and have a more typical airline schedule? Seems like a place I would at least consider living for a while.

Has anyone worked for Rwanda on the A330, and my questions are:
Why is the salary so low?
Whats it like living in Kigali?
How is the roster? average monthly hours.?

I am (as is obvious from above) also interested in going but at the same time don't have first hand info. That said, I have a friend in Kigali who´s been there for a couple of years, working as a teacher. He likes it. It is safer than most cities on the continent. It is however relatively sleepy compared to other cities he says. Also, it is pretty expensive for foreigners so expect the housing allowance to be used in full, also western comfort foods and the like is very expensive. We´re talking 8-10 Euros for, say, a tube of Pringles.

I´d say that the salaries are low as Rwanda as a whole, however amazing their progress is since the mass killings two decades ago, is still a very poor country that is highly dependent on foreign aid. They pay what they can afford.

Rent prices are high, but I would disagree about the Pringles comment. Food, while expensive, is not outrageously so. Said can of Pringles is probably more like EUR 3.50. Besides, Pringles are bad for you, Mzungu. Shopping at Nakumatt or the German Butcher will set you back some Euros, shopping at a local grocer will not be nearly as costly.

Kigali is clean, safe and has a nice climate. No, it's not a metropolis and things can and do move very, slowly there. Having been to every nook and cranny on the African continent, I can say with certainty that Kigali is delightful and Africa "light."

Rwandair isn't a career destination but, if it gets you where you want to be, a worthy excursion.

Any Chance I get in Info on Rwandair.

How do they treat Foreign F/Os?

Do Foreign F/Os ever get command?

Is there a career progression?

Can you move from one aircraft to another?

If you live in Africa, and are worried about the price of Pringle’s, perhaps you should consider Emirates or Qatar. Also, if you’re on the 330, you’ll be outside the continent every week and can stock up on groceries abroad. If you’re on the 73, you can stock up in South Africa. Rwanda is about 30% less expensive now, than it was 5 years ago. This is a combination of more trade, competition, lower import taxes, more domestic production and a more favorable exchange rate. Restaurants are a lot cheaper than they were, service is better thanks to POS transactions and rents are less due to an over abundance of rental properties than in the past.

How much time does a A330 pilot spend in Europe?
Is it possible to go home on a layover if you live close to Brussels? 56 days away from the wife I can handle, but I can't spend that long away from my dog.

the chief pilot does. He does it from London too. He’s a great guy. Honorable, fair, kind, he has your best interest in mind and he’s a true leader. He won’t call dispatch to assign you his 0700 flight on your off day, when you landed at midnight either. You won’t see his car is the parking lot of K Club at 0530 either, when you’re Enroute to the airport to operate this flight.

I keep seeing more and more adds of late for expressions of interest for NG pilots at Rwanda. But thats been advertised for months now. I showed interest 6 months ago but have heard nothing back about starts.

My agent seems to think it will be awhile before they need NG pilots.

Any insider news?

Are you Spanish or not current? RwandAir has had bad luck with the Thpanith. Think persona non grata. Ricardo Naval DFO and the former CP. You seem to post a lot, asking for info with no reference to your experience or qualifications and don’t add anything to posts. Perhaps you’re phishing or not experienced.

I heard the NG is overcrowded due to the max delay. Lads do around 50 h a month and they have cancelled early december joining for the 737. So far 2 guys left recently but I am pretty sure they got tons of applications due to the current max situation which is just an illusion. IMHO if they dont anticipate and secure pilots from now they will have some trouble soon.

Spectrum and Rishworth are providing pilots for Rwanda Air.

Guys, please, always go with Spectrum.

Rishworth will do nothing besides getting the % over your salary and the respective fees.

Hello all,

Bumping this old tread up since Rwanda air seems to be recruiting for the A330 again.
Been invited for a first online interview and like everyone else being impatient and interested in knowing the T&C's of the CAP A330 position!
