Hi all the other weekend I attended RIAT 2018 thus here are my photos of 920th RQW HH-60G 6227. This a/c took part in the 2005 Rescue of Navy SEAL Marcus Lutterell . Subsequently made famous into book and Hollywood movie ‘Lone Survivor’.


Also picked up award by RIAT judges for best static display.

It is a very long way from the early days of the Bell 47 Medical Evacuation Helicopter!

I can’t believe they’re still flying that panel layout with P and CP instruments mirrored. The CP rad alt needed a spacer to fit. If memory serves me correctly, that layout was designed about 34 years ago!

Just curious; what does the "Cable Shear" switch (last photo) do?
it cuts the hoist cable in the event that the hook/cable has become caught or tangled with something immovable. Like a ship or a mountain....
