There must have been something in the air, as yesterday afternoon on the other side of the mountains I was driving past Dalcross and a JP5 of all things went wazzing down the main runway. I lost him crossing my 6 as he went southbound. Happy memories of lurking around the Dales in the Linton wx ship many centuries ago.

Maybe that's the same one Mrs Mechta snapped between Ardrossan and Arran yesterday?

The boys? Really!
In 2018.
How long have we had female aircrew?

...and the 2018 snowflake award for the most easily outraged goes to....

Not at all outraged, not in the least, and not in the least offended either, just pointing out casual sexism.

And to quote John Cleese;
”Snowflake”. A word used by sociopaths in an attempt to discredit the notion of empathy.

14% of the RAF officer cadre are female so there’s an 86% probability that ‘the boys’ is factually correct.

Wouldn't it be be better to give the % of women selected as aircrew (not just officer cadre)?

Anyway, surely the vast majority of that 14% Ken mentions will be admin and catering Officers :E

Hope you enjoyed watching the A400M fAtlass being flown by the boys / girls / don't knows / don't cares HMFC accepts these days. To keep pr00ne's champagne socialist sensibilities happy, we must be diversity-aware and give equal credit to the LGB-TUVWXYZs, I guess...

But it's good to see A400M zipping around here in British West Oxfordshire these days!

Good point BEagle, got to keep on top of the casual homophobia....

Well said Numpty!

Presumably he would have it as 'The boys and girls and LGBTs at play'.

Ah well, boys will be boys. But these days, 2018 that is, boys will be girls and girls will be boys; and women will be all things.

I prefer Wikipedia's meaning of the word to that of Cleese. And should the cap fit ------

And to quote me. John Cleese. A man who used to be funny but is now just full of bitter sarcasm.

Sadly correct.

ABR who is departing these blessed isles.

Pity more don't join him.

Read the other day that the Service had recently taken delivery of its twentieth A400M. Most of them seem to have been transiting over my house lately - wot a racket!

What on earth do we find to do with 20 A400s? Could be worse of course - I think we were originally in for 60+

You may well be the first in the history of Pprune Military to openly complain about having too many new aircraft.

Im not sure whether to congratulate you or ask what you’re smoking.

Sorry, 1996 memory letting me down. 60+ was the German quota.

How many are A400’s are airworthy on any given day ?

Last I heard the RCAF C 17’s have an average of 90% mission available rate. The day that EPS A400 gets anywhere close to that is a long long long way away.......

How many years have the C-17's been in service? I'd expect that a mature airframe with the worlds biggest fleet of airlifters would have most of its bugs worked out by now.
