Grade 8 salary including housing varies from AED 19K thru 24K depending on your qualifications . Travel will be Y class with upgrade to J class. There is no provident fund, so EOSA only.

I am really surprised by those number as it is lower than the basic a captain will get at Flydubai and we are grade 7 !!!

Think there's a bit of confusion here...Grade 8 being discussed is the corporate grade. The Captain numbers are a lot different.

Grade 8 is a ground job grade. Flightdeck grades are much different.

Back in 2015 I interviewed at a grade 8 job in EK, housing and travel was about 9k per month, and was looking at a package around 24k at the higher end. plus 20k schooling per child (primary) or 30k for secondary

Captain grade is FD.7 which is equivalent to EK.10. FO is FD.6 = EK.9

Do you mean FD8 or EK8? big difference there! FD is flight deck where EK is rest of staff including ground and office staff.

Do you have the same qualifications as them Shangaan? Did you get promoted from grade 7 or straight in as a grade 8? There are lots of reasons why pay can be different. Lucky with EK race is not one of them.

Don is spot on as usual about the salary band it's usually very wide. In the interview ask about the "contract adjustment letter" Think about that term carefully. Never assume EK honour contracts as they don't. Take a very careful look at the cost of living. I visited recently and it's truely eye-watering. All the best with your decision.

this isn’t FD - this is EK corporate grade 8.

Fixed housing at 8075 per month. Transport allowance at 735 per month. Category B insurance so no EK clinic. No provident fund only EOS.

Basic salaries range from 8k-15k a month.

all based on the strong dirham ofcourse! ;)

Joined as a EK8, only got to notice my pay difference after joining. And yes I had the same qualifications and even more years of experience than my fellow joiners from the European Continent. Unfortunately my basic was less than theirs.

Low to medium basic salary. Housing around 60k. Transport is about 400 a month. No business class travel. Grade 7 in Dubai can be a struggle. Especially when it comes to living expenses. Also it is really difficult to transition from EK.7 to EK.8.

Grade 8 housing allowance is half that of grade 9, and medical insurance is category B compared to category A for Grade 9. Also Grade 8 attracts only end of service bonus, which is a multiple of months salary per year worked whereas Grade 9 is enrolloed in the EK Provident Retirement fund. Salary bandings are wide and do cross over. Depends how hard you negotiate on joining. Thats the basic difference. Ask them to detail differences in the medical scheme.

Its going to be a fixed term contract and I am thinking if they give me enough money, job grade wouldn't matter, since I can take additional medical cover externally, is that right? Should I lookout for anything else apart from PF & Medical?
