An impressive capability at an impressive price. Presumably their suite of instruments could help find missing airliners and survivors?

Obviously some people don't know about " life of type " project costing that includes purchase, facility upgrades, ground support etc etc and cost of operating for 15-20 years!

Some of us learned that lesson in 1941. When the balloon goes up you deploy assets to forward bases. They're jets after all.

Yep, just like the P3/P8. A compromise with them based to between both main maritime exercise areas. I’m sure the project will include infrastructure works for RAAF Darwin or Tindal to support the drone.

The RAAF statement very clearly states that the base is EDN and that RAAF Tindal is being developed to host them. By the way ISR assets like the MQ-4C are not sub-hunters and comments about MH370 are disingenuous to say the least.

everybody is forgetting about the two drones already based in SA - by the names of Pyne & Payne!!
