Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has been through the process for Jetconnect recruitment recently?

I am keen to get back to New Zealand and Jetconnect seems like a reasonable option to get back to Wellington. I am wondering what the recruitment process looks like with all the Jetconnect pilots flying for Qantas? I know some people that went through the recruitment last year but they were unsuccessful so I don’t know anyone on the inside and would assume it would have changed.

Specific questions are:

Where is the interview (Australia or New Zealand)?
Where is the training (Australia or New Zealand)?
Do you still incur a bond or pay for your type rating?
How long is the unpaid portion of training?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, why on earth has this been moved to GA?

Re: training and interview, most of this is unknown. By the end of the year, JC will no longer be an operator. All training and checking within Qantas. 50% of crew are already completely removed from the JC AOC operation. So, new recruits will be straight into Qantas (operationally speaking), and I don't think any decisions have been made how this will be facilitated.

Re: pay, the CA (EBA) should (hopefully) be sorted out by then. Nothing for certain, but it's looking like you'll be employed and paid from day one of the type rating. No money up front, and no unpaid period. This could all collapse, nothing is signed yet, but things are looking to improve significantly, as they should.

Perhaps because this forum is “GA and questions” and the original post is a question? ;)

Why would you bother? Air NZ and the Links are hiring like crazy, they will soon have a Group wide seniority list.
Even Jetstar and VANZ are better options and I doubt their Wellington base will open much longer.. rumour has it.
